My Friend E-mailed me this. I think the Mechanic is taking him for a ride What do you think...

The bigger problem and I'm not exactly sure what it
means is... he says my piston rings are gone. That is why my gas mileage is crap, that is what is causing the rough idle and the loss of horse power. He says that oil is getting through and is flowing back into the intake.
On the way to the intake is covering two fuel sensors which is why the car isn't running properly... because the two sensors aren't reading properly because they are covered with oil. He said that there was oil in the air filter and now he is going to check to see how the spark plugs are doing. If they are covered in oil then that could also be causing the loss of horse power or rough running.

I think it's A bunch of BS. BTW the guy only has 80K miles on his car...

Have the mechanic show him on the car that it is doing this. The rings can't get worn enuogh to push that much oil. Even if they could it's not going to fly up the I.M. all the way out to the filter. Come on. I'm calling B.S. on this. Get it out of there fast. 2nd opinions are cheap. It's heard BTW Ed. We're not talking cattle here.
