Dave, I'm using a pair of 8" Audiobahn DVC (4ohms each coil) subs. I'll run them in a circuit to give me a single 4ohm load to bridge to my amp. I got a pretty good deal at $31/ea.
I replaced my Free-Air Kicker with one of the Audiobahn subs just to see how it sounds. It seems that they don't like the Free-Air setup like the Kicker, tho. Bandpass, here I come.
