OK, thanks demonSVT. To anyone having trouble getting the AGSF32PPM plugs, Autolite has a $1.00 rebate per plug on their website. http://www.autolite.com/specials/index.html
Good until the end of the year. I would still like to find out why I can't get the Motorcraft plug.

Why does double platinum last longer than what Ford says to use?

Here's your answer (you can skip to paragraph 5). Fact is, dropping certain spark plugs from the lineup is a cost-cutting decision made by a manager, not a technical decision made by an engineer. Single-platinum plugs will work, but you'll have to change them more often. I know this for a fact from experience, and there are many others more qualified than me who will say the same.

Edit: removed some redundancy in regards to my first post

Heat range.

764's are the plugs you want to use.

104's are 1 step colder.

Not true.

They are both the "4" (i.e. stock, like Motorcraft "32") heat range. The only difference is that one is threaded all the way down, and one is only threaded part of the way. Same form, fit, and function as the taper seat sets the plug depth in the head, not the thread length. (IIRC, the 104 is full thread like AGSF and the 764 is part thread like the AWSF. I could pull one of each when I go to work tomorrow to be sure.) Either could be used and no difference would be noted in a Duratec.

Now, the APP103 is one heat range colder, like Motorcraft "22" heat range.

Good catch there...

So then:

APP764 = AWSF32PP
APP104 = AGSF32PP

Exactly, and APP103 = AGSF22PP.

At some point, even Autolite is going to stop making the 7xx plugs since they are pretty redundant.
