Throttle position sensor, attached to the throttle body by two really tight screws. I guess it senses how far the throttle is open/closed.

It also determines where the car shifts (ATX). I accidently left the connector off and drove the car...couldn't understand why the car was staying in gear...kind of like throttle hang.

Hey, I noticed that too....those rascals were next to impossible to get loose. I finally put a screwdriver bit in the end of a ratchet, and got it to break loose.

Make sure you put a cover sheet on your next TPS report. You know we're using the new cover sheets, right? Did you get the memo?

If your CEL is telling you to replace the TPS try cleaning the MAF gently with alcohol and Q-tips first. Mine read TPS and it wasnt that at all..
