James, you think the 3rd gen has bland styling? I suppose without the factory body kit, but many people think the 3rd gen is the sexiest vehicle ever made.

I sure do, especially without a body kit. It's just the 13B turbo I don't really like. With an LS1 swap, it sounds just about perfect

please never buy a rx-7.

I'm a HUGE RX-7/rotary fan, but I wouldn't hesitate to own an a LS1 powered 3rd gen. The combo of one of my favorite cars with probably my favorite engine would be hard to pass up.

Wow, didn't mean to ruffle so many feathers. I also am a huge rotary fan, however I feel that the turbo 13B engine that Mazda put in the 3rd gen rx7 is very unrealiable in stock form. I don't think that comes as a big shock to anyone, especially those in the rotary community.

If someone had the resources, I'm sure building up a much stronger 13B could be done and would be very satisfying. I personally just think that a LS1 swap with some minor bolt-ons would be a great combination of a great looking and handling car with a great, easy to mod engine. The lower cost, maintenance and better mpg are also nice. Just my $2
