is there a list or something similar of everythin that would need to be changed for a cheap straight 3.0l conversion...Its hard to find everything in one place, which keeps me from actually doing the swap, can't get all the info.I of course want the easiest and cheapest, i here it can be done for under a grand with your own labor, but i here stuff about changin fuel rails, changing oil pans, timing cover, intake manifold, what else is there. I got a mystique with a auto, i'm not worried aboubt burning it up, i'm confident it can take it. Help would greatly apreciated.

Would jus swaping 3.0l heads beneficial, or just as much work as full swap.

for the basic cheap swap:

find a low-miles 99+ 3l block.

fill 3 oil passages.

put your 2.5L oil pickup, baffle, and oil pan on it.

use your 2.5L heads, cams, etc.

use the 2.5L timing cover.

2.5L LIM, UIM, fuel rails.

grind of tab for alternator to fit

you *MIGHT* have to do a little grinding to make starter fit, i did.

i think thats pretty much it.

all you'll have to replace is oil pan gasket, head gaskets (MAKE SURE TO USE 3L GASKETS, NOT 2.5L). head bolts, valve cover gaskets, timing cover gaskets, uim and lim gaskets. and anything else that you break!

Also you have to grind a bit off the end of the crank.

A loss actually.

Remember the 3L heads are mated to a "larger" bore. 89mm vs 81.67mm/82.4mm. That equals overlap of the smaller 2.5L bore.

Also the CR would drop about a full point due to the much larger chamber area.

so would a 3.0l with 2.5 heads, non svt be better than a 3.0l with 3.0l heads, if i plan on staying n/a, and svt heads would yeild optimum n/a power....or what would the best n/a power combo be.

best n/a combo would be:

3L block

2.5L heads, with 3L valves and PnP

svt cams/uim/lim
