Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor ?????
Fuel pressure is regulated at the pump. Do you have a code?
If you think you're having a fuel delivery problem, get hold of a fuel pressure gage. Preferably one with a 4 - 5 foot hose. If you don't see a problem parked, duck tape it to the windshield and drive around. A common problem with new fuel pump installations is neglecting to clean the crud from the bottom of the tank.
If the fuel pressure responds normally, move on to other causes.
Since you have an aftermarket intake, keep the MAF clean from any filter oil.
Make sure your IMRC is working correctly.
Make sure the plug wires are not misfiring (view at night).
Vacuum leaks (the PCV hose is common), the TPS, and other parts of the ignition system are also suspect.

im getting code p0190. i had autozone run it last night and thats what popped up. fortunately thats the only code she's throwing so thats a start. im still getting the bucking and when i drive every once in a while it does a quick hesitation and goes back to normal. im gonna take the fuel pump back out this weekend and make sure all is well in there. i only get about 200 miles per tank and driving uphill tonight i watched the gas guage go down and then when i leveled out and stopped at a stop light it went back to where it was. i dont know what the deal is. do you think the screen being bent upwards to act like the orig is an issue? im not leaking any gas so i know nothing is cut or leaking. im at a complete loss and i can get the parts at cost so that helps but i dont want to buy stuff i dont need.

right, but im not sure why thats acting up after replacing the pump. the reason i brought up the pump was b/c of the gas guage fluctuating. i need to make sure its securely seated in the clamp to try to get rid of the needle dancing so is the assumption here that replacing that sensor/regulator will fix this or is this a fix that could still not be the fix? (tricky question w/no correct answer)

This was true up to 1998 mid-year.

P0190 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
The (CCM) monitors the FRP sensor to the PCM for VREF voltage. The test fails when the VREF voltage from the PCM drops to a voltage less than a minimum calibrated value.
* VREF open in harness or sensor.
Looks like a bad connection in the harness from the PCM. Check all wiring that goes to the fuel pump assembly. That explains the gas gage too.

Look for loose or corroded pins at the rear connector, or rubbed off and pinched insulation in the bundle under the car. Not sure where the ground is but try to find and clean it.
Problems at the firewall connector seem to be rare.
You may want to check the power distribution from the battery to the auxillery box next to it. The circuit feed to the pump may be weak if there is corrosion there.

i'll check the plug at the pump and i'll look for the corrosion around the battery but just seems wierd that it started right after i replaced the pump
