Hey Guys,
I was thinking about getting a 3rd key made "just in case" and wondered if any Ford OEM PATS key will work with my SVT, or are there certain PATS keys that work with only certain models and years.
There are a bunch of PATS keys listed on Ebay, but none specifically mention the Contour. Are there different types of keys out there?
TIA,
- Zack

the other thing that you could do is get a plain key cut then leave in under the car someplace, this way at least you can get into your car in anycase, and if you locked your keys in you just got around that problem
but for a third key it sounds like you should get one that looks like the one you have, as it sounds from what everyone has said that the different styles have different looking keys

Ummm.... How could you have possibly joined on a future date
Welcome to CEG anyway!
And yes, my old Contour would mysteriously lock the doors while running. Maybe I would unconsciously lock the driver's door manually, since the power locks didn't work... but maybe they had a short in them and would lock the doors when shorted to power... Anyhow, I invested a few $ in an old skool Ford key (like a 70s/80s/early 90s) and kept that in my wallet... and w/o PATS, you can still start the car

most lincolns use a diffrent pasts system. Its an encrypted system. Keys are slightly diffrent. Programing i the same. If its a startec key it will have a gray chip instead of black.
