Well I sucessfully replaced ny h2o pump this weekend and no busted knuckles, but when I was removing my the hoses to the air intake I noticed that the two lower hoses that go to the front of the motor under the h20 pump cover and the one that goes to the rear of the motor had both rotted away where the hose makes a 90 degree turn into the motor. Now these two hoses have a hard plastic peice that snakes around, but the part that goes into the motor has totally rotted away. Also I had a vacuum leak at the rear of my motor. Its hard to explain, but at the back center of the motor there is a black plastic circular peice about 3" by 3" and right behind that ther are 3 very small rubber 90 degree elbows that have thin peices of hard plastic hose going into them. One was disconnedcted and hissing. I pushed it back in as best I could, but could not get it in very far. Any suggestions what I need to do about these two problems? By the way the car is a 96 GL 2.5 with 100K miles

Replace the hoses first off, that should take care of the problem.

Are the rotten hoses just hoses? I mean do they have any funny bends in them? If they are just regular hoses, you can go to the autoparts store and get replacements easy. If I get what you're talking about. It's dark here so I can't run out and look. But any rotten hoses are bad.
About the smaller hissing hose. A little spit on the end of the connection will make it slide easier, the spit will eventually dry.
Little dab on the end of a finger, and lube the connection.

I had to replace my vacuum hoses on my car. At the back of the motor 2.5l 95 there is a hose junction where all these hoses come together. If this is what you are talking about it is best to replace the complete hose bundle. I think I paid around 45 dollars for mine. I also replaced the two top hoses going to the manifold including the ports. Engine idles fine - you can hardly tell its running and I have 166,000 on mine!

The hoses that have rolled are a combination soft hose where it goes into the air accordian hose then it is a hard peice of bent plastic to the motor. At the end of the plastic there is a rubber 90 degree bend that goes into the motor (kind of like a plug boot) that is what has rotted in two. I looked for the part on line, but I do not know what it is called. Give me a name and maybe I can find it. As far as the other hose leak goes, the hose runs from the saucer shaped part obove the throttle body to a junction on the back of the motor. Again give me a part name and I might be able to find it. Thanks
