89 Trans Am had a revised version of the Buick Grand National Turbo V6...I believe it was the Buick engine with Pontiac heads. It had a 3.8 liter SFI fuel injected V6, with turbocharger and intercooler. With a computer-controlled Garrett turbocharger set at a maximum boost of 16.5 psi, this THM 200-4R four speed automatic transmission-equipped V6 develops 250 horsepower at 4400 rpm and a maximum torque of 345 ft. lbs. These numbers are believed to be very underated as they were on the Grand National as well. GM doesn't like anything to have better numbers then the Corvette. Stock 13.4's are very common. I have seen them run 12's pulling the front wheels off the ground with slicks and very little mods at the track. They are fast cars and yes only came in white with gold emblems. Ever ride in a Buick Grand National...my brother had one and they too were real fast just not very aerodynamic. Put that motor and then some in a very aerodynamic car and look out. Tons of aftermarket parts for them as well!

More info on the 89 Trans Am Turbo...by the way one of my favorite cars along with the GMC Syclone and Typhoon!
