He was lying. A V8 Trans Am without a cat would have a hard time pulling that time, much less a V6.
First of all, the only Trans Am that ever had a V-6 was the 25th Anniversary model made in 1989, it had a hi-po turbo V-6. So right off the bat the guy you raced lied. The 1996 Trans AM came with an LT1 V-8 (de-tuned corvette motor) putting out 285hp and 325 tq. Nonetheless, 13 flat in the 1/4 for this car without a cat is very hard to believe. Was it a manual or an automatic? Either way he must have had some mods done to it to run a 13.
