I was just curious why no one has tried to shoe horn an sho motor into their cars i currently have one and the trans computer and all wiring harnesses but i am looking for some insight on this idea and if it is even possible. I have seen they fit one in a merc topaz but i just dont see it fitting in a contour even though they seem bigger. If any one has some ideas i would like to hear them to see if even possible if not i will sell the motor and get something that will fit. Thanks

The reason nobody has tried it aside from the obvious fitment issues, is that it's not remotely related to the engine in our cars so everything for the install would have to be custom fabbed. With that much cost involved and the ability to get more horspower than you can put effectively to the ground from the duratec 3L it's rather pointless.

Hell , with all that work, you might as well transplant a 4.6L. That would be a feat!

No it wouldn't. The cam sprockets will eventually let go if not pinned or welded. 3L hybrid produces as much power and is a better powerplant.

Buckshoot i dont see a difference between an svt and an sho they were both built for performance. As for fitment issuses i found a few but nothing a little maching could not solve. Also as far as performance I think the horsepower to weight ratio on the contour would be amazing with the sho motor as it is kind of low on the sho due to the weight of the car.But needless to say i would like to give it a try ,but if it dont work no one can say it wasnt attempted. I have a regular 3.o from a 95 taurus with 46,000 on it i can also use but i wouuld need to know what i need to keep on this motor and what not to keep. Thanks for the replies keep them coming.

The 95 Vulcan motor isn't going to work either. Why are you trying to make things harder and much more expensive?! Just do a hybrid Duratec 3L (makes more power than the SHO motor) or a 2001+ straight swap. Go ahead and give it a shot. Let us know how it turns out. I own both so I might know a little about this.

I'm a truckdriver with two kids not a banker with no life. I'm not trying to sound rude i was just trying to get some assitance and information on something i was pondering . I was hoping it would work but i was wrong forgive me for trying . Thanks Joe

Clueless doesn't even begin to cover it...

If you CAN NOT fathom any of this thread you should NOT even attempt work such as this...

'nuff said.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
