Being a complete car audio retard, i need a little help on an Amplifier for my situation.

I just bought 2 infinity reference 5x7's and 2 infinity Kappa 5x7s (i could have had 4 Kappas, but i promised my friend i would buy his reference's).

Now, should i have the Kappas in the back, handling more bass? Or them in the front for sound quality?

Or is the sound quality difference so massive that i should just suck up the 60 bucks i spent on the reference, and get all 4 kappas?

Also, what amplifier should i use for this situation. 4 channel or 2 2 channels? My budget is less than 300 bucks for the amp. Hopefully. The cheapest you can go without sacrificing too much sound quality.

I will eventually put a sub or two into the system also, but that is later.

Not sure on the amplifier, but put the better speakers up front, as long as you don't have blown speakers in the back, you won't be able to really tell a difference what's back there.

fly, if your gonna run just 2 kappas, put them in the front and references in the back. how much power do u want? the kappas can handle 100watts rms(constant). not sure about the references, i believe they handle less or have less sensitivity. u can look at the jbl 80.4 which puts out 40watts per channel. i got mine for like 130-140 shipped new off ebay. u should be able to find lots of 4 channel amps with good output. if you dont care about looks, then your selection is unlimited. there r tons.

definately put the kappas up front. as for an amp. i wouldnt either bother w/amping the rear. due to the God-awlful placement of the rear speakers. i would run them off the hu just for a lil rear fill. i'd get a jbl 80.2 and run it to the fronts. u can get it for about $90 shipped. i think the contour w/out an amp sounds best with the HU w/this configuration for the fader:

R.........l......X....F
the x is where i put the fader

a lot of contour owners just take the rear speakers out all together. a prefer a little rear fill but when i get some good componets up front i probably will forget the rear fill altogether. it just lessens your sq but since you have fairly decent speakers in the rear and your front stage will be much louder you should probably leave it balanced
just toy around with it, but i definately wouldnt get a 4 channel amp. even if the rear is loud, you wont hear much clarity or sq, its not worth the extra money IMO

I can definitely tell my rear door speakers are back there, it does help fill the car. Though I can only compare it to blown stock speakers.

I've heard of some people going as far as slicing the whizzer cone off of the rear speakers if they have speakers with real tweeters in them up front.
