Have a slight a/c problem. The other day while driving my a/c just cut off and started blowing hot air. It then started doing this frequently throughout my drive coming on for a while then cutting out. I went to a repair shop where they told me I needed a new a/c clutch. I noticed while my car was parked the a/c cycling on and off every few seconds. I remember someone mentioning that this might be a lack of freon, so i bought a can of freon/oil/leak sealer with a meter. The meter said it was a bit low so I put the can in, it then read between "Normal" and "Low". The clutch all of a sudden stayed engaged and the a/c blew really cold air. Today on my way to work the a/c was ice cold until about 15 min from my job when it cut off AGAIN! When I pulled over to take a look the clutch after 2 min. engaged again and stayed on. I put on a pressure tester to the a/c and it reads right in the middle of "Normal", but when I give the car gas the pressure rises to "Overfilled" on the meter and the clutch cuts out until I release the gas then I hear like air escaping a valve stem and the clutch resumes. Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so, I could use some help. Thanks

I have the same problem. Have you been able to figure out why it is doing this?

did you put the 134 in the high pressure or low pressure side?

Unless you have the special tools and training, NEVER try to install it through the high side.

Feed it in the low side.

Turns out, it was a bad coil.

Thanks

I am glad you found the problem but how can a bad coil cause the A/C to work intermittently?

According to the repair guy, when the coil heated up it would cause the clutch to disengage. As the car would cool down a bit so would the coil and then the clutch would trigger again.

I agree with the shop's diagnosis and explanation.

Their information fits your circumstances very well.
