I feel your pain!!!!!! Something very similar happened to my 1990 AWD Tempo, the fan quit working one day (simple prob) but that caused me to overheat and ultimetly cracked the head. Over six months, I had 2 heads put on, 2 radiators, all the hoses and connections, and none of it fixed the problem. We decided to put the Tempo aside and buy my Contour once the Tempo could only go 10 miles at a time without overheating. Similar to you, I also feel that my repair shop did bad quality work and I put in 1500 bucks (more than the car is worth) to fix it. You need a new transmission, I need a new motor. *sigh* sucky repair shops - there is still so much life left in my Tempo - I could have done a better job myself!
