Some Cougars have electronic brake pad wear sensors built into the pad. If your Cougar is so equipped with the sensor wire coming off from one of the four front pads, then using a pad without this feature will mean that you will have no warning on the dash when the pads wear out. Otherwise, the Cougar and Contour pads are interchangable except for the early SVT (mostly 98 E0) pads.
