I strongly beg to differ.
I think the best setup would be the oval port heads with the dual runner manifolds. If you have some skill and ingenuity mating then the two together should produce some very nice returns.
Also sticking with the 3L heads makes a more friendly CR. (10:1 stock, but more like 9.7-9.9 after unshrouding - Low 9's with significant chamber work) Then just kick up the timing and enjoy the torque. Then there is always adding boost too...

The windage tray and pickup tube did change in the 2001 model year. Both were upgraded to the YL8E version. You must run them together.
DO NOT try to bend your old pickup to work. That is just not smart! Spend the $15 and get the correct pickup.
For Ref - Actually Dan the Escape would come with the correct pickup and even oil pan either way. The Taurus DOES NOT on either account.
Folks getting a Taurus engine (any Duratec can benefit really) may want to pop for the new 3M4Z oil pan (~$70) from the 03 Escape.

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
