Does anyone know what radar bands are in use in western Canada?

I ask this because the guy in the store told me that the police do not use the X band anymore. I just need to know if he is right.

basically you need to get a radar detector that can pick up
Laser, K, and KA those are the most widley used radar in the market right now. You have to remember that with laser its so precise that you have to have someone infront of you inorder to have any type of normal radar dector to even work. Any other band you'll be fine with a basic dectector. However photo radar doesn't work well with any normal radar dector you'll have to go into something like a escort 8500 inorder to get that to work.

There is another thread about the best radar detector and again it is basically between the Escort 8500 and the Valentine 1. Where do you weigh in on this?

Thanks for the reply but is X still in use here in Edmonton?

One of the reasons I ask is because I have the option to turn off the X band completely so I get less alerts when near the malls etc. Although I have heard some K at the malls etc, but not even a fraction of the amount of X.

I figured I could forever forget X band until I moved to Iowa. Quite a number of Iowa State Patrol units use X band radar and bank on people dismissing it as a false alarm. I've yet to encounter X here in NM.
