He probably did run 11's, in the 1/8 mile Those cars did come with the Quad 4 w/ 185 hp, but those were the GTZ's and with all the head gasket problems they had, theres probably not too many of them around anymore. Watch out for the guy who has one of those and its modded, it could be an eye opening experience

My dad had a 93 Beretta with a 5 spd and the 140 hp 3.1 V6 in it. It sounded very mean and had 180 ft lbs. of TQ. Off the line it would scream...but once you got to 40...they were suddenly dogs!!! I'd say it was a low 16 second car.

No way anything under 400 at the wheel horsepower is touching 11's.

Most of you have it right. There's been FOUR 3.1L OHV GM's in my surrounding family over the past 14 years. So I think I have some experience to compare to my 99 SVT.

The 1989/1990 calibration was such that the throttle response all happened early in the gas pedal's movement. First gear was pretty short. The diameter of the wheels back then was small too, making the effective gearing that much shorter.
So the first 25-30mph comes up quick, and then you're starting to choke. Great for peeling out though.

Top speed 1989 Regal (heavier than Beretta): a non limited 118mph.

I always wanted to know how fast my ol 89 Grand Prix 2.8L was.... I got it up to 112 once, 3rd gear ~5900 RPM (right under redline).

My advice to you : Stop while you're ahead. You are already building a bad rep. for yourself on this forum with posts like the one above. You are proving to be quite the chump yourself. When people here talk sh!!t, you'll know it, and that was no where close to it.

Haha...I think Frosty SVT's response was perfect for the situation.

insayne-

My 89 Regal is a late production for the model year so it has the 3.1, not 2.8. Took me about a mile or so to hit 118mph on the closed track I was on. It already had like 90k miles at that point though, maybe fresh it would have hit 120+.

Ahhhh yes, the days before governors..... ;-)

How so? He's a freakin' troll, talking [censored] about our 'tours, so I thought i'd shut him up. Had I not posted a pic I would've just gotten "yeah right, you don't have a vette.. blah blah blah". damned if you do, damned if you don't, huh?
