OP skon_dup1 New CEG\'er S Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 47 Phoenix, Arizona	I just replaced my h2O pump and thermostat and now my car is running a lot hotter than normal, between the M and A. Where it used to run around the O and R. The thermostat I replaced the original one with was a 180 degree from Autozone and looked nothing like the old one. It did not have the hole with the little BB in it. The AZ one had a BB in the center ring that moved around. Does the thermostat have to go in a certain direction to make it work correctly? I am wondering if this is what is making the car run hotter than usual. Thanks

contour_r_us CEG\'er C Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 126 Portland, Oregon	Yes, this could be causing your running hotter than before (air trapped in the cooling system). That BB/hole is for bleeding out air that may be trapped in the cooling system. It's orientation is critical. There may be info in the FAQ's, have you checked there yet? I KNOW for a FACT that a search on the forums will reveal the info you seek, lot's of data on thermostat's, water pumps and cooling systems in general. If I am not mistaken, and I will be corrected if I am (;-)), the t'stat should be oreintated so the BB/Bleeder hole is at the 12 o'clock position when mounted in the t'stat housing.
