Just a couple of minutes ago, I was making a 2 mile trip to Wal-mart. Well, then I did not notice anything odd with the car until I was just about to pull into Wal-mart. Then I heard a loud crunch and a small creak. Now my car wobbles and it feels just like a table with one leg shorter than the rest.

Can someone please help?

On a very seldom occasion, my car also makes a slight popping sound coming from the rear. This sound is heard even when the car is not in motion. Could this be just me or am I imagining stuff?

Thanks

I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like the rear sway bar. That happened to me in my old Cougar. Not too costly to replace.

I just drove the car around to see if it was still wobbling and one thing that I noticed was that it was harder to steer too. I checked the tire pressure to make sure one was not flat and they all read fine.

Go check out your springs. One may have broken.

Well if it is your front coil springs haul it over to Ford, it is still under warrenty for the Contour as an extended coverage, they have had many problems with them, so all the labor and parts are free.

How much longer are they covered for? My Contour has 107K miles on it currently.

Thanks

When my RR strut failed it felt like the car was a male dog hiking its leg at a fire hydrant.

Of course my spring went "sproing" at the same time. Time to get one and/or the other replaced. Don't let the shop try to convince you that you need to replace the other side at the same time.

Also, if it *is* both, and you have the time and inclination, ask the shop to sell you a new strut with the spring already installed on it. That way you can do the remove/replace job as a DIY without having to also rent a spring compressor. The only labour they should charge you is the ~.25 hours for putting the spring on.
