Most states have "must arrest" laws concerning domeatic violence (and this qualifies as such). You should have called the cops. Screw the company. If calling the cops when you witness a crime would cause you to lose your job, then they are not worth working for anyway. And if you wouldn't have lost your job, you should have kicked his ass. What a classless, worthless SOB. I would have knocked him across the room on general principle.

Ok I gotta say sumthin here.
1. Just because she is your mother doesn't mean she can't do they most screwed up crap to you. I still don't give my mother any respect for the way I am today. I am this way because of my FAMILY that helped to raise me while my mother was out leaving me alone to watch my baby brother. Not to mentioan stealing all of my crap and pawning it off so she can get more money to go and support her gambling debt. I give her credit for giving birth to me. And after all of that crap I still went and bought HER a frickin car! I never got CRAP like that from her. She bought me a 300 dollar computer once and then I left for two months and she sold it right out from under me! Oh yea... she deserves respect.
2. One thing she did teach me though. Men are just stronger than women. It's like a festiva trying to race a Cobra. (in some cases. there are some big ladies out there.) She said that if a woman is big enough to hit you, then she is big enough to get hit back. Women (not all of them) are always equal rights this and equal rights that. Then when they go a piss the wrong guy off and get hit, they demand to be babied and treated like a woman when they were trying to fight like a man.
My rule is this. If you slap me, thats one thing, if you put me down, thats another thing. As soon as you punch me and piss me really off, you are not a woman and you have got to be put into your place. Its like the law of gross tonnage (I think) If it's bigger than you, give way! Damn this thread has pissed me off and I'm not trying to offend anyone. Its just like I said though, if she is man enough to hit me then she better be man enough to get hit back. Thats it and now I better get ready for the flaming....

Call the police. There's no excuse for that type of crap.
If it was me he'd of had a broke nose after the second swing, but you were probably smart for staying out of it at the time. Some of the most dangerous situations you can get into are domestic disputes, as you can't tell how EITHER party is going to react when you intervene.
It won't end until someone confronts the kid. If she's making excuses for him, the little prick has got her under control and she'll lie like crazy to protect him...

I coudnt have said it better myself. lets just say that I ahve to deal with a lot of this at my new work- and here are a few words of unofficial advice.
1.dont step in - EVER - this puts you at risk and its not your job to do the policing.
2.Dont fight the person - EVER - this puts you at risk for more charges as well as a butt kicken.
3.call the police- they will do their job and take the offender to jail. period its a domestic assault - someone HAS to go to jail. and you dont want it to be you.

- if they fire you for calling to cops then you have the basis for a wrongful termination and every judge in the country will give you the case. they wont fire you for calling the police- but if they are stupid enough to do it - they will pay.

Not really true, stepping in for the defense of others IS justifiable in the eyes of the law. Any judge would have charges against you dropped pretty easily, especially in this case. But the way people civil suit eachother today, I wouldnt be surprised if the mom sued you; pissed, yes; surprised, unfortunately no... -Nick
