this is the first time ive heard double clutching defined, whats the benefit to that? on a side note i did power shift my zetec to a 16.3 recently and i fail to see how doubleclutching can improve upon that. maybe its a road racing thing. all i have now is opt. tb, cta intake, msd coil, redline trans fluid, and muffler delete option with turn down (saws all). cant wait to get header, custom exhaust, cam gears and a chip.

Wow those are a lot of mods! Maybe just more practice. My first runs at the track were 16.5 @ 87.94, 15.9 @ 88.57, 15.488 @ 89.83, ect.... I asked for comments and advice and implemented some things, and I improved my times. Of course good shift points are good, but the best adivce I received was drive it like a maniac . Some much faster cars in the 1/4 mile were shocked I was so close behind them....as quoted from their own mouths, and I only have a bosal cat-back and K & N open air filter. I plan on more mods and it will be fun to see my times improve.

Some will say that double clutching is quicker and easier on the tranny... I say synchros were put in there for a reason and it makes no difference, you're just wasting time double clutching.

The only benefit of double-clutching, in my experience, is getting a big rig to change gears without grinding.
Excessive powershifting will eventually destroy the weak little MTX-75. Besides, what's the point of powershifting when you have throttle hang?

hey, i read that article in motor trend too . powershifting does make a difference, even with throttle hang. its equivalent to the difference between launching the car at a spcific rpm while holding the engine at that speed and then gassing it (regular shifting), and launching the car at a given rpm while the tach needle is wrapping up(powershifting). ofcourse with a worn clutch like mine, im sure one may not get the full benefit of the technique. even still in my experience its always been worth a tenth or maybe two.
