my friend has a 5-speed accord. He lets me drive it around every now and then when he wants to use my car for some strange reason. I found power shifting (double clutching I've also heard it called) can really help in terms of getting up to speed.

When shifting, don't take your foot completely off the gas, in fact hold it there. Drop the clutch and shift QUICKLY then let off the cluth. Since you're already on the gas you don't have to stomp the gas afterwards. And since you're revving up to redline with no load on and then you drop the clutch which places the load on, it gets a jump. It's really cool and I suggest you try it sometime. PRACTICE first. Don't wanna blow that engine do ya?
