I just did this to my contour, I used something called an eraser, its basically an attachment for a d/a sander or buffer that looks very similar to an ordinary eraser, anyways, it took about 5 minutes a door to get the glue off. I hit it with a quick shot of compound afterwards and it looks as if the ding guard was never there. Just thought this may help others, good luck
