I was wondering if anyone has heard/installed this unit in a car.
I've been considering an Alpine mp3 deck, but it's really expensive, and the JVC seems to be highly rated. Dave Newman mentioned something about JVC's new products being pretty sweet.
I don't like the Kenwood units, as I'm looking for a rotary volume/function knob, and the Sony is just plain UGLY!
So -- any ideas out there?
Thanks in advance, Brian

I personally do not have one, to expensive, heck with no $ anything is expensive right. Any way, i have seen some demos of this HU. ANd my oh my is it sweet. THe only thing i can not get used to is the silver face. And as with any MP3 deck, it does take some time for it to read what is on the cd, which it did flawlessly, at least the guy did several cd examples anyway. it took about 25-35 second to read, pretty muuch the same as my Diamond Rio Volt. Plus i think you can get it for about $299+ship somewhere, but i forget. I really like the adjustable flip face, really nice. But that is my .02.
Nothing here yet, just got my 1998.5 Black SE ATX

I have one of the new SD series decks. They are great. I do not have the MP3 one, the one right below it the 77 i believe. I am really happy with it. It looks awesome, has built in EQ, looks great at night, performs well. I would recommend anything in that line of JVC products.

Jazzman,
I think that HU is one of the best looking on the market. It seemst that JVC has also fixed some of there chronic quality problems. I have not heard one complaint about last years or this years models.

Another question I thought of --
Does anyone know if I can use the remote to move quickly through the files? I don't want to have to hold the >>/>> button for twelve minutes to play the last track on the mp3 disc.
ANy ideas?

Jazzman,
It had numbers 0-9 on it so you can go to an exact track for using mp3.

I just asked for this deck directly from JVC. I am hoping to get it in the next week or so in order to get ready for my next round of competitions on 7/14 & 7/15.
I judged a car at Spring Break Nationals in Daytona that had a KD-SH99 (1 of only 2 in the country at the time) and it sounded sweet!!
