Ok-
I get my oil changed at Tire Kingdom cause I have a discount thru work so It's $15 for Oil change, filter, tire rotation, etc. I took my car in last week for an oil change. Sometime after that, I noticed that my alarm siren wasn't working. Today I took it to the installer and he went to test it with a 9 volt battery to make sure the siren was OK. He goes to pull the power cord back to splice into it and lo and behold the power wire to the siren was cut!!!!

Now I have a Ungo MS2007 with a LCD pager. It goes off if the hood is opened. I have 2 roommates, and my car is always in my garage at home. At work my office window looks out on the parking lot. My point is that there's no chance that anyone else was under my hood to cut the wire. If someone had broken into my garage (no sign of that) and pulled the hood release cable my alarm would have gone off. My one roommate's bed is next to a window overlooking the garage. He would have woke up for sure. I have 2 dogs that would have gone crazy had my alarm gone off. If someone had opened my hood, cut the wire, why wouldn't they have then broken the window and stole my stereo? The funny thing is all they did (potentially) was keep the siren from blaring, my alarm still pages me when it's set off. In a way I kind of wish they would have broke in not hearing the siren cause I woulda had some fun.

Anyways, now that I'm 99.9% sure that the punk kind (Jason Weaver) who changed my oil last week must have got in my car to pull into the bay, heard my stereo, then cut the wire while he the car was up on the lift. I'm guessing he was planning on coming by my house (the store has my home address on file) late in the night and stealing my stereo.

My question/need of advice is what do I do? I know the cops won't do squat as nothing was stolen and I have no proof. What I'd like to do is catch JW after work and have a little talk with him, but that could come back worse for me. My buddy recommended I go into the store today, take the manager outside and show him the wire, and explain the fact that noone has had access to my engine bay except Tire Kingdom. What will that lead to though? Him saying I'm sorry and I'll talk to him? I really want to go and punch him in the jaw but I know that won't help...Any advice (sorry about the length)

i am glad you caught it before anything really happened, but i honestly dont think you have any course action laid ahead of you, i think you might just have to grin and bear it, find out what days mr weaver does not work and have your oil changed then, or start changing yourself......

or, you could continue to go to tire kingdom, dont say anything about, and if he really did it, bait him and try to catch him following through with something he was already planning....

I feel like I should at least talk to the manager. Maybe he'll fire the kid if another complaint comes in and prevent someone from getting ripped off...

Maybe your alarm went off during the oil change and your siren got wire got cut to stop it blaring ? Just a thought, true there are lots of bad people in the world, but I would at least ask the kid what happened before I made any presumptions.

I've gotten my oil changed at this same place 4-5 times and each time I tell them specifically they can disconnect the battery so the alarm won't go off. My Headunit automatically scans in radio stations, so it doesn't bother me and won't piss them off. I do remember when I dropped my car off hearing the alarm when they first put it up, and not hearing it when I came back.

There is no excuse for a mechanic to simply cut the power wire to my alarm cause he didn't like hearing it. If that's the case and he admits it, they'll be paying for my installer to rerun the wire.(I know it's easy to do, it's the principal).

Which location?

I would think that even if they did cut the wire to stop the siren from going off they would try to fix it before giving it back to you. Sounds suspicious to me..pretty clever actually. Talk to the manager, but don't go in and say: "Jason Weaver cut my wire and I think he will come and steal my stuff!". Tell him that the siren from the alarm has not worked since you took your vehicle in last time and you would like to know why. Don't mention that you saw a cut wire, etc. Let them find it, or "find it" while they are standing there. Ask the manager if someone cut the wire to silence the siren, then go from there. Mentioning Jason Weaver specifically or the assumption that he wants your stereo may make Jason want to come pay YOU a visit. For piece of mind tell them you are moving and want to update your address, then don't go back.

2G-
It's the one right off 256 in Reynoldsburg (by 256 and 70). I'm going to go there after work, call the manager outside and show him the cut wire. Explain that it worked fine before I came in, didn't work when I left. The funny thing is, every time I've gotten my oil changed there I've sat and watched my car. This time my roommate came and picked me up and I left.

Maybe the manager will refund my money from the oil change, or give me a couple free ones...

The funny thing is that while the siren is/was silenced, the alarm is still fully operational and will still page me if it is set off. Imagine this punk coming to my house in the middle of the night, thinking he had all the time in the world since the siren isn't going off, then me coming outside with my German Shepard, Pit, and probably this....
