There is a grinding/humming sound that is coming from the front end of my car. Its only there when the car is either going straight or turning left, turning right is sounds like it should. I have a strong feeling its an alignment problem, but could it be anything elses like brakes or anything?

Also my ABS light in the instrumental panel is also staying light. I tried disconnecting the battery but that did nothing. Is there a fuse for this light?

I would appreciate all the help you guys offer, always have always will.

That sounds like a wheel bearing to me. Try this: Raise the front of the car. Grab each wheel with one hand on top on the other on the bottom. Try to move the wheel back and forth on the vertical axis. If there is any movement, the wheel bearing is suspected to be faulty. Also, spin the wheel; the rotation should be smooth and wobble free. If their is any strange feeling (crunching, grinding or wobble) this is also an indication of a worn-out bearing. How much mileage on your car? As for the ABS light, sounds to me like you have a sensor that is faulty. Easy to replace but might be an expensive part.

I agree with Rivet........Sounds exactly like a wheel bearing.

Classic sign of wheel bearing failure. It is something that appears to happen to just about every Contour. I just had both of my front bearings replaced at the dealer for $349, which I thought was very reasonable. That, combined with replacing the noisy KDW tires makes my SVT feel like a Lexus, it's so quiet inside now!
