Hello everyone, seems like my Contour has yet another hiccup in it. When I drive over certain bumps (not all bumps) there is a very audible clunk coming from the back. Now before anyone says: "check your stablizer links", I've already done that and they're nice and tight. I've also emptied out every single thing from my trunk including jack and spare tire. Now, here are some more clues: It seems to be more frequent and louder on colder days. The clunk is louder if I fold down the back seat. It appears to be coming from the general direction of the strut/coil spring. It has been doing this (faintly and infrequently) for a long time now but has become way worse since I recently pulled a trailer with a snowmobile on it. Any ideas?

have you checked the struts and springs? they could be bad or going bad and that load may have put just enough strain on it to make it worse. id check that to start. mine clunks in the back but i think mine is a blown strut.
