Hey guys...go to LS1Tech.com to learn something.

Guys...I just got my LS1 and it's an auto. Stock I run a 13.5...and that was with 87 degree track temps!! This is 2 seconds faster than my Mystique after all the work I put into that car. (SVT UIM, ported TB, K&N cone filter, gutted cats, SHO y-pipe, exhaust)

All this talk about how many liters you have or is it N/A...yada, yada, yada.....it doesn't matter!

The fact is....an LS1 makes around 300-325 HP at the rear wheels.....STOCK!!!

The LS6 in the Z06 makes around 370-390...STOCK!!!

In order to keep up with this...Ford had to supercharge their engine.

Now...all I have to do is buy a torque converter($500-$900)...and I will turn 13.0's all day long. Headers and exhaust($800-$1000 total)...I'll be in the high to mid 12's........cam and heads($2000)....low 12's to possibly high 11's. All of this naturally aspirated!!!

Like they say...no replacement for displacement!!

Ok well lets line up an '04 Cobra with an '04 Trans Am WS6 and see who wins.... oh wait, nevermind. Well how about an '04 Camaro Z28.... oh, whoops, I forgot.

This comparison is like saying you can buy a contour and turbocharge it and beat an SRT-4 for less money or whatever. Like it's cheating that the SRT-4 has a turbocharger and the cobra is cheating because it has a supercharger. When they were both available brand new the fact is that the cobra was/is faster. When you start talking about comparing modded cars to modded cars and modded cars to newer stock cars you are just wasting your time.

That is the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Rubbish! A dual-quad carburated, nasty, radical cam-havin' 3 1/2" (which is NOT too big in this case) exhaust burblin' BIG BLOCK! (IMO, the silly sewing-machine sounding S/C eats up too much of that lovely V8 exhaust note)
edit: after I said BIG BLOCK , I forgot to add MUAHAHAHAHA!

Loco, every post I have ever seen from you has always rung true with me. Until now. The only things more ubiquitous than Camaros (besides Camrys, Taurii, and SUV's, these days) are Mustangs. I also noticed that you specified Cobra, but didn't specify Z06 (which, by the way, just caught up in h.p. to the ZR-1, remember those? ) I just realized we live in different regions, but I see an '03 Cobra at LEAST once a week. And they just came out! I see a Z06 less often than that. And the Z06 has been on the market for what, 3 years now? When I see a new Ford GT on the road, then I will have to turn around and go back home for a change of pants. That's gonna be a rare bird, when it's all said and done. Mustangs (cobra or not), however, are a dime a dozen. I'd like to see actual figures as to how many Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes are on the road in America. I'd be willing to wager that the Mustang would outnumber the Camaros and Corvettes combined.

Yeah around Cincy there's a huge number of Mustangs. There's a few Camaros, but Corvettes are rare and there's definitely only a few Z06's. Tavis: I'm glad to see someone thinks we'll ever see a Ford GT around here when they come out. I for one would probably about wreck my car if I ever saw one go by me on the highway

Well compared to Cobras I have seen way more Z06s.

Well, my mom lives out by Indian Hill.. I've seen some VERY rare cars on the road out there: Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, to name a couple, and the GT isn't going to cost anywhere near what they did.
