Wow, what a shame... I was about to get into my car to go to a job interview this morning when I noticed something strange, my car was lower than usual. No wonder it's lower, someone stole my old stock and ugly 15 inch 97 contour gl sport wheels. Yes, the one with the ugly little cap in the center and the 6 bspokes. The gray paint on them was in bad shape, they were full of scratches and not even clean. Ok, my tires were not that bad, being 225/50R15 unidirectional, but they were still pretty cheap (pacemark). Anyway... I was insured but will have to pay the deductible (250$can). I don't know how much they will give me, I am hoping to get about 1000$can. Can you beleive that the ugly wheels I had are still listed US$323.75 new (Delta 2 style)? Oh well, I hope the guy that stole me will have fun fitting my wheels 4x108 on his civic 4x100. I mean, who would want my ugly old wheels ?? If they only looked great...
In the meantime I will be checking in the classifieds to find a wheels/tires combo for 1000$can and less...

I almost had a similar thing happen to me. My Sport has the somewhat-nice 8-spoke alloys. I used to always take the park'n'ride to school, and there was a fellow student with a Pacific Green 'tour there too. One day, coming home from a day of work and classes, I go to get in my car and I see the other 'tour across the lot sitting kinda funny. Upon closer inspection, I notice that the driver side rear wheel is missing, and the car is resting on the drum brake. The guy was there giving a report to the Sheriff's department. The really sad part was that the car in question had steelies with the ugly starfish hubcaps Why take a cheap steel wheel with a plastic hubcap when they could have taken one of my alloys?

If you can afford it, take the insurance money and get yourself a set of nicer wheels and wheel locks.

Wow, stealing a steel rim... Can theives get any lower than that? Buying one is far easier and costs about nothing.
I just hope I will be able to deal with the insurance guy coming this friday, it would be a great occasion to buy some wheels as you said. If it wasn't of the 250$can deductible, I'd be almost happy that my wheels are gone.
Oh and btw, I almost bought sideskirts the other day. I am soooo glad I didn't because my car would be sitting on them right now

What you just said is pretty scary. I tought I would be okay with wheel locks. The problem is that my car is spotted now, if I put new wheels on it, why wouldn't the same guys come and steal them again while I am sleeping ? Damn theives, it's the first time someone steals something from me and it really pisses me off. Well, I also had a hit and run that ruined my front bumper but that is another story...

For the price of your deductable you can get a nice car alarm with a pager to alert you to this type of thing.

I have an Ungo and if you rock my car at all it pages me up to 1/4 mile away.

That is a great idea, how much did your alarm cost ? If I had a pager like yours the theives would have eaten my baseball bat before they could even remove one wheel
