its been pretty much a stand still right now. Powdercoated valve covers, UIM, TB, etc have all been put on. Had a bracket made this weekend for the electric waterpump. Thats about it really. I probably wont make any big progress on it again until 2 weeks from now since I'll be in Ky next weekend.

Have you ever heard of "Murphys Law" Think about it like this, which way is it easier to replace it, now when the motor is sitting right there in front of you, or later when the motor is in the car and its a BIAATCH to get to...pretty easy answer IMO Same thing with the starter, especially since you have a new flywheel, put a new starter with new teeth for them to get aquaited with I know your in the $15K territory, so whats another $100 or so, think about it, I just don't want your car breaking down at all, ever and with an alternator/starter thats going on 8 years old, why even risk it

Roger speaks the truth. I put on a slightly used one on mine. Now I've got my stock one for a rebuild if the one that's on there now lets go. Might as well while it's out. Starter should be easy to swap in the car. Well, a nonturbo car w/ a relocated battery. Sits right there on the tranny. If I were you I'd do the starter since you'll have "stuff" sitting over it.

The other reason I remember thinking about this was because of what happened to Simon (Fast4door) on the Dragon last month. His alternator took a poop out in the middle of the Cherahola Skyway and let me tell you, theres NOTHING out there The other thing I wonder is because your running a turbo and everything is "under pressure", will the stock alternator even be able to handle it I remember waaaaaaaaay back in the day when I had my Caprice that was all hot-rodded out, I had to go with a reducer pulley on the alternator to slow things down in there, seeing the alternator wasn't meant to see that type of abuse and rpms. Its something to think/find out about, especially now while you have the time and its on your side

well, the welding has begun, but weve ran into some problems with the pipes that Street Flight has supplied.
1. Wastegate when mounted actually hits the front radiator fan. Something is going to break when the engine rocks back and forth upon acceleration and decelerattion. We did manage to cut it off and reweld it so it leaves about 3/4" between the fan and the wastegate.
2. Collector pipe touches and rests on the bottom of the oil pan. Definetly not good!
3. The exhaust downpipe seems to be a good 3" off from where the turbo would sit and bolt up. Also, i think they welded my straight pipe in place of my catalytic convertor upside down because it actually points downward.
Ill see if i cant supply some pics to show what im talking about.
Its been frustrating nevertheless.
