New Theory: Democrats plan to regain power in America! legalize MJ. More pot heads = more democrats = democrat in White House.
In case you havev't noticed anyone who wants to [censored] themselves up on drugs can. It was a lot easier for me to get just about any type of drug when going to high school than it was to get ciggarettes or alcohol.
Fact is we have thousands of people in this country serving time for minor pot offences. I beleive last time I checked it costs 30k+ a year to house each inmate. That is a lot of money that could be spent on better things.
Face it people the war on drugs will never win. We have been spending BILLIONS a year to try and stop it. Yet all that money and man power has done just about nothing in the big picture to even slow it down.
So we should give in and make marijuana readily available to anyone who can afford it? It's not so much the pot that I'm worried about, it's the fact that pot is a gateway drug. If everyone starts smoking pot, the sooner or later, most of those people are going to want to step it up a notch and try other drugs. So when everyone moves on to heroin, should we just legalize it because it takes too much effort to control it? Yeah, pot seems harmless when you're watching Cheech and Chong or Half Baked, but in real life, it can easily consume a person.
Legalization shouldn't be an economic issue. It should stay illegal to keep people from f*cking themselves up. I will agree that I think that it should be decriminalized like it is in Canada, because sending someone to prison for three years for having a ounce on them is stupid.
