Precisely. If you do your own research, you will see that there has never been a single person to lose his/her life due to the effects of marijuana. I'm speaking health-wise, not due to the fact that someone might have made bad choices while under the influence...

I was a "wake n bake" for almost two years, so i can see the other side of the arguement. As I have stated in the past, marijuana is not for everyone. Unfortunately, SVTCuervo missed the entire point. This thread is not a discussion coming from a bunch of potheads who just want a legal reason to get high. People are going to smoke whether it is legal or not. The keypoint of my arguement for legalization is that there are some good uses for MJ. Equally important is the fact that our prisons are crowded with the "wrong" kind of criminals. As was previously stated, rapists, murderers, and child molesters are serving minimal terms behind bars while those caught in possession of MJ are serving serious time. As a side note, I quit smoking five years ago and usually only smoke once or twice per year, if even that.

I could even go so far as to bring up many states' laws concerning rock cocaine and powder cocaine and how there are two extremely different sets of punishment for possessing equal amounts of each, but that's an entirely different topic, possibly racially motivated.
