Criticism, an excellent start!

Yeah? I can buy a chainsaw and cut my head off. Should chainsaws be illegal? I am against smoking in indoor places though where secondhand smoke is involved (but that's another issue).

Yeah, I forgot that this nation was based on not treating people equally.

Do yourself a favor. Pick up a dictionary and learn how to spell. Why should we respect your opinion when you can't even present it clearly and intelligently?

Or they could smoke more pot. Who are you to judge how people spend the money THEY earned.

Amen!
Not to mention the fact that they are clogging up the prison system with drug offenders and letting pedophiles and rapists run lose in our communities.

Why legalize another drug?
Personally I don't think it should be legalized. I agree it's a gateway drug, but in the same way as alcohol, cigarretes, painkillers, and over the counter stuff can be. I know smokers and some of them use the argument that in moderation it's not bad for you, but imo the long term health affects of mj are not well understood enough to support that argument. For alcohol the benefits of moderation are better understood but the problem in general with moderation is that a lot of knuckleheads don't understand where the line should be drawn. So weed basically turns into another avenue for self destruction.
The only way I see it being legalized is when it could be taxed/regulated similar to alcohol and tobacco, and this will never happen because the alcohol and tobacco companies and their lobbyist would never allow a new "social" drug to take a cut out of their pie.

Legalizing it and taxing it doesn't justify letting people f*ck themselves up. If we legalize it and suddenly everyone becomes a pothead, i can see a lot of people being too stoned all the time to finish college and finding/holding jobs. That could have a very bad effect on the economy. Also, just because something is legal, doesn't make it right.
Arresting people for driving under the influence of marijuana would also be a very difficult task. You can put some Visine on your eyes, and you could never tell. Even if they drug tested you on the spot, you could say that it was from a different occasion, and they could never prove you wrong unless they actually saw you smoking in the car.

Lets hope this country never comes to that point.

I consider myself a pretty liberal person, but I know how marijuana effects people and changes them, first hand, and that's why I think it should still be illegal.

And this differs from alcohol... How?
People [censored] up their lives, their familes lives, and other families every single day under the influence of alcohol.
People would not smoke more if was legal. If people want to smoke marijuana now, they do; if they don't, they don't, simple as that. You won't find many people who don't smoke marijuana just because it's illegal.
If anything, taxing it would make it much more expensive and price it out of the hands of some young people who can afford it now
