Really it's no worse than alcohol. I understand it can serve as a gateway drug, but if it didn't then some other drug would be there to serve as the gateway drug. I know plenty of people that have just smoked pot a few times, others smoke it fairly often but do no other drugs, and those that have moved on to other drugs, but the people that move on to other drugs often have more than just weed influencing them to do that. I still wouldn't smoke it if it was legal cuz it makes u stupider. But comparing it to alcohol, then it should be legal, and should have been legal long ago. If they could tax it, they definitely would make it legal. It's all about money to people nowadays.

And this differs from alcohol... How?
People [censored] up their lives, their familes lives, and other families every single day under the influence of alcohol.
People would not smoke more if was legal. If people want to smoke marijuana now, they do; if they don't, they don't, simple as that. You won't find many people who don't smoke marijuana just because it's illegal.
If anything, taxing it would make it much more expensive and price it out of the hands of some young people who can afford it now

Not to mention the fact that they are clogging up the prison system with drug offenders and letting pedophiles and rapists run lose in our communities.

Because the cat is out of the bag with alcohol. There's nothing that can be done to put it back in, apart from educating Americans how to drink more responsibly.
In short, two potential wrongs don't make a potential right, even if one is considered legal and the other isn't.

So why not legalize yet ANOTHER way to [censored] a persons life up, right?
Come on. The perception of the situation isn't equal and IT NEVER WILL BE. Alcohol will NEVER be judged 1/10th as dangerous as pot, regardless of statistics. There's a popular culture barrier that will ALWAYS prevent this.

BS. The legality of certain activities keeps many people from "testing" boundaries. I myself question certain people's almost blind devotion to staying within the "letter of the law" as much as possible, but it doesn't change the fact that once the legal and social stigma is gone or lessened from this addictive substance, it merely opens the door to much more rampant use and ALSO abuse.

I disagree.

In that case, it would need to be double that of cigarettes, which then puts us BACK in the same situation; kids growing their own or obtaining it illegaly...
I can't think of ONE good thing that comes from the use of drugs. Sure, they are a blast while your body holds up, but you pay the piper sooner or later...

Regualtion, not prohibition.
Everyone has to make personal choices. As long as your choices do not affect the lives of others in a negative way, it is none of my business.
There are consequences for the use of marijauna. YOU can choose to risk them.
We can try to operate as a nanny state, but where does it begin, and where does it end? We all do things that can be considered sinful, harmful or potentially deadly. And we are free to criticize each other for these actions. We are free to attempt to persuade others to choose what we feel are acceptable choices. And we are free to accept the consequences of our actions.
Legalize the use of marijuana for adults. Tax it. Allow production for private use without tax, as we do for beer, wine, and tobacco. Regulate its use in public.

I disagree.
You can disagree all you want, but for 99% of people it's true. Marijuana was often easier for me to get, smoke, etc. than a cigarette.

Wow I'm so suprised I was told off Personally I could care less if you smoke pot. But as I"ve been reminded so many times is that this a public forum. I expressed my opinion and WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW a bunch of Liberal dankers told me off. Personaly I have nothing against you. But if your are going to state your "reasons for legalization" then I'm damn sure gonna tell you what I think. I have many pot headed friends and we get along just fine.

I say legalize it, why not? Let people make up their own minds. Not to mention what hemp could do for our planet. This plant has been around forever. Its the most usefull plant in the world.
Oh and by the way if you really beleive all these anit- MArijuana ads on tv, please WAKE UP!!! You are being fed a bunch of BS. Do your own research.
