To the boston fans i have nothing but respect for the red sox for the way they battled each and every game including against oakland, You guys never gave up and thats what teamwork is all about, I had alot of respect for pedro and manny before this series but now i just can't help but say there sore losers.
Actually, the Yanks have THE highest payroll in MLB. They pay to play. Cap their salary to about 3/4 of what it is now, you won't see them win another series for a hundred years.
You "had" a lot of respect for Pedro and Manny? What'd they do? Pedro lost control on a pitch to Garcia. What, you think that was legit? If Pedro wanted to hit him, he would have made damn sure to hit him where it mattered most, not gone high and outside off the bat. Oh, what, he threw geriatric Don Zimmer to the side? Would you have rathered Pedro punch him in the face instead of do the smart thing? Please, it could have been much worse. Manny flipping out on Clemens for that pitch? No, the pitch wasn't close. But, Clemens has the second highest number of hit batsmen, right behind Randy Johnson. He's known as something of a headhunter, and honestly I'm surprised I haven't see him severely beaten because of that. Yeah, Manny overreacted, but, Clemens' reputation earned him that one.
Like I said in the other thread, the Sox played the better game. Management blew that game, that's it, that's all, thank you.

That what I hate. The people are fine, just like any other place but there is so much attention payed to New York it makes me sick.
I know I'm not alone on this one...It seems to me that the only people who make such a big deal about New York and 9/11 are the people who are so far disconnected from it both physically and socially that they have'nt clue one about what it's all really about. The citizens of New York (not the government) only asked our fellow U.S. citizens to join in our mourning for those lost on 9/11. We never asked for extra special sympathy because we're New Yorkers, though some outsiders LOVE to project that image onto us. The citizens of New York made it out of 9/11 by sticking together, supporting eachother, and kneeling down to help our fellow man and being the better people about the whole situation instead of lashing out against anyone with olive skin and a bindi, and New York is a better place for it. I ask for no special treatment because I'm a New Yorker. I also offer no special treatment to anyone who comes to my home from another part of the country/world and demands such treatment. Maybe that's why New York makes you sick and why everyone thinks that New Yorkers are so rude. We treat people like people, not like tourists, or dignitaries, or movie stars. We don't expect you to treat us any different than you would treat your own when we come to visit your home, but trust me we are given special treatment--just not the kind we appreciate. Call me a "typical rude New Yorker" if you will, but if you don't like the atmosphere and interpersonal relations that New York has to offer, than stay the hell out.

Bishop: I'm not defending anyone here, but hear me out on this. It's one thing to throw Don Zimmer aside when he charges the mound. It's another thing to grab a 73 year-old man by the head, a head which has a metal plate in it from a serious medical condition, and throw him to the ground. That's not emotion..that's malice.

for the record, i love New York City. it takes a lot of whit (and insanity) to live in a city that big and congested.
the New York Yankees, however, i hate.

Dude, if you came three steps towards me from only a few feet away, I'm not going to grab your head out of malice, I'm going to get you the hell away from me before you can hit me, it's simple as that, no offense. Pedro was in the midst of a brawl, and he did the smartest thing he could have done- threw him aside, instead of pounding him into the ground. Would you have rathered watch security pull Martinez off of him, or watch them help him up? Personally, I'm glad he JUST tossed him away.
And... New Yorkers aren't rude... they're generally straight with you, and don't care if you like it or not. I respect that!

Well since I live in Chicago I get a different view of New York. I've been to NY many times, and I love going there. I never had any problem with the people, they are busy people, they're not jerks. It's just all the media attention. Going back to baseball, I was frustrated when I was trying to see some clips of a cubs playoff game I missed that I saw three minutes of the NY/Boston game and just a printed display, cubs win. Most of the time its here's what happened in "other baseball" and now here's the Yankees, woohoo. No one ever cares about the White Sox, they get no coverage even when they are hot, it's all New York. And I know someone will disagree with me, it's just the way I see things.

Speaking from my own experience when i went down to FL for spring break. We drove down from NY to FL panama city. PPL right off the back knew we were from NY. Don't ask me how but they knew. Some ppl love us, some dislike us. Haters make the world go round.
PPL are right about NYer's being straight up with u. We don't have time to lie

Exactly, not only that look at the texas rangers? a couple of years ago the orioles had a huge payroll and it was a bust. It's not about money its about teamwork and the yankees play the best when it comes to teamwork, Tell me who on the yankees stands out? Posada the cather bats in the #7 postion and had 28 homers and like 100 RBI's, Nick johnson #8 hitter is a gem that every team wanted to trade for.
Pedro is #3 in the MLB for most hit bats man right behind roger, don't tell me he lost control of the pitch when he is one of the best pitchers with control and after he lost the lead.
Zimmer was out of line with what he did and he apoligized for it did pedro? NO
Was pedro right for what he did yeah he protected himslf but he threw him down with a vengence( watch the replay and watch his expression before and after the fact)
IT TAKES A MAN TO APOLIGIZE AND BOY TO HIDE BEHIND HIS TEAM.
