from what i heard 4 valves flow just as good as a 5 valve engines. somebody was also telling me how the yamha r1 has a 5 valve engine and the susuki gsxr 1000 has a 4 valve and runs a bit better than the r1. if you want to design a better engine design something stronger, with less weight, less moving parts, and more compact.
