Sounds like an abomination.

I'd like to see your sketches if possible.

Hey I tried. I thought I had a good idea.

Why not just amke the valves larger? More valves seems like going the roundabout way to get to the same point. But good job on thinking out side the box.

from what i heard 4 valves flow just as good as a 5 valve engines. somebody was also telling me how the yamha r1 has a 5 valve engine and the susuki gsxr 1000 has a 4 valve and runs a bit better than the r1. if you want to design a better engine design something stronger, with less weight, less moving parts, and more compact.

I thought it was a DOHC engine. So it's a QOHC engine?

technically yes, for the Zetec it doesn't matter since it is a I-4, the Duratec is DOHC engine meaning each cyclinder has two cams above it

Or you could say that it has 2 camshafts per bank of cylinders. Overall the duratec has 4 cams, but it's not tagged as "QOHC," although i have seen some engines badged as "quad cam."

My mom told me that my duratec only has one cam and she has been a mechanic for over 2 weeks!! Of course there are 4 cams in the duratec silly rabbit. 4 valves x 6 cylinders = 24 valve. 2 intake, 2 exhaust = 4 valves per cylinder. DOHC = one intake cam + one exhaust cam... x 2 banks of cylinders = 4 cams. Just thought I would show off my amazing math skills and explain any confusion, or even create more... I'm going to bed.

SOHC = 1 cam per head (single "over head" cam)

DOHC = 2 cams per head (double "over head" cam)
