Actually that's a lower temp gauge reading than most Zetec owner's report so I don't see why you think there is a need to replace thermostat.

This is what I wanted clarification on. Thank you. Appears alot of enthusiats are overly concerned with the temp guage reading. I went to the local Napa dealer yesterday, and put an ohm meter on 12 temp sending units in stock; all varied in readings on the ohm meter, anywhere from a low of 425 ohms to a high of 692 ohms. All sitting on the counter for the same length of time, none out of the box until I put the ohm meter to them. I've had similiar findings with the Taurus and the 3.0 engine temp sending unit. This fueled my desire to stress the OEM temp sending unit (under new pn not long ago, now made in Belgium instead of Mexico. Of course cost has gone up appreciably. The t'stat shouldn't be as big a concern, for me, as I have over 30 years of using Stant products. Bill

I would have to agree. I have been in two 1995 2.0's w/MTX yesterday, besides my own, and both were reading as posted above. I inquired, and both were original owners vehicles, with OEM temp sending units as well as t'stats. Both owners stated that this is "normal" reading for their vehicles. Bill

Looked in haynes manual, doesn't look too much harder than a zetec (get the manual if you don't have one already). Just gotta remove battery then hoses/clamps and then the housing can be removed and two bolts come out to get to the thermostat.

The Mad Mole page has great drawings/pics of the 2.0 t'stat housing as well as replacement instructions. http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/ go to Information and then follow links from maintenance to "How to Change Thermostat". Bill

Umm, I know what my tstat housing looks like. I was asking that guy that wanted to know how hard it would be on a duratec if he had a pic of his housing because I don't have a duratec to look at.

Know one said you didn't know what YOUR t'stat housing looked like. I was following the earlier thread on the Zetec, not the Duratec. My bad.
