Whats your impression of Sony amps? Also, im looking at the XM-1902GX (Mobile ES line), and its at $240.00...yet it only puts out 150 x 2 at 4 ohms...which is the same power as the XM-1502SX (regular Xplod line) but the XM-1502SX is $200.00? The specs look the same for both too. Whats the deal?

I really like sony stuff. I have a Sony Hu that is in the Mobile ES line and it is a great stereo! The amps are pretty damn good too. The Es will be a cleaner sound and will in the real world probably be able to push more power then the lower end model.

I have a sony ES MDX-650 right now and I like it alot.....however I do not like there amps at all. Not very reliable and overpriced let us know how much you wanna spend and how many watts you need and lets see what we come up with.

I agree on the 'reliability' issue with Sony amps. If you are looking to push interior speakers only I would say go for it. But (and this is a BIG but) if you are looking to run subs... Sony amps will clip and heat up and cut off constantly. I was highly disappointed with the performance of a 'X-plod' amp I purchased and hooked up to 2 RF Punch 12's.

I have heard a system that has a 4 channel Sony amp running the interiors. Result: Nice Clean sound.

Well im looking to spend about $250 right now for the amp. So basically im limited to around a 150 x 2 power. Is it even worth upgrading a 100 x 2 to a 150 x 2 (will there be a noticeable difference i mean)? If the answer is yes then ive narrowed it down to 2 amps: Sony Mobile ES 150 x 2 and an Orion 150 x 2 (leaning toward the Orion). Let me know what ya think or if you have any other suggestions. One more thing...im possibly looking at upgrading my subs and here are the choices (all 12"): RF Punch HE, Pioneer IMPP, JL Audio, Orion Cobalt, and Kenwood (the blue Tornado one).

why are you limited to that much? if you mean because of how much $ you have thats not the case.
you can get a cadence 1200C online for $250 and it will put out I think 750 x 1 @ 4 ohm or 375 x 2 @4 ohm

what subs are you going to run? I could help more if I had some specs on them

oh and you woould only notice a very slight difference with 50 watts.

375 x 2 @ 4ohms? Sounds a little EXAGGERATED
for only $250

case in point.. My Hifonics Boltar puts out 225 x 2 @ 4 ohms and it retails for $750

The Cadence amp is actually rated at 250 @ 4 ohms, and 375 @ 2 ohms. And the retail on it is 629.00. 250 is a great price on a pretty powerful amp.

BTW, I would have no problem with purchasing a Sony ES amp. My experience is that they are very well made.

im not joking about the price of the amp check out woofersetc.com or matrixaudio.com..matrix is higher though. Cadence is a great company and puts out quality amplifiers. They always put out at least there rated power. and WRECKA if you really spent $750 for 225 x 2 I feel very very sorry for you.

p.s. thanks for the catch dnewman
