Drastic change in engine feel and vibration control.
"Technically" the reduction in vibration will have a positive effect on longevity and reliability.
However the same can be argued that it is only an NVH upgrade.
Personally I've fallen off the band wagon believing a DMD will help with crank whip. Engine component speed and subsequent forces at high rpm are just far too strong for it to make any difference. Using logical thinking it still "should" help with longevity of internal parts by reducing vibration, but only if you keep the rpm level down. Also with that said there are many folks with very high mileage running the OEM damper as well.
Also I know of at least 1 DMD failing on a high powered Duratec engine. I would say it has a HP/TQ limit you should not exceed!
Say it ain't so! You've been like the leader of the "Get a DMD" crew for ages now! Come to the darkside Luke!
