No change in peformance vs stock damper.
Drastic change in engine feel and vibration control.
"Technically" the reduction in vibration will have a positive effect on longevity and reliability.
However the same can be argued that it is only an NVH upgrade.
Personally I've fallen off the band wagon believing a DMD will help with crank whip. Engine component speed and subsequent forces at high rpm are just far too strong for it to make any difference.
Using logical thinking it still "should" help with longevity of internal parts by reducing vibration, but only if you keep the rpm level down. Also with that said there are many folks with very high mileage running the OEM damper as well.
Also I know of at least 1 DMD failing on a high powered Duratec engine. I would say it has a HP/TQ limit you should not exceed!

It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.

On my SVT, I really didn't notice much difference between the stock crank damper and the DMD. The obvious side effect of the DMD was a longer spool up time in the lower rpms, but that's about it. Above 4000rpm, it was the same as stock. One small observation I did hear on my SVT was the mechanical tone of the engine changed. .....BTW, I'm running the stock crank damper.

Any insider info or unpublished engine failures lead to this change in thinking? Any new tidbits from procyon or Terry???
