OK guys, since you have proven to be extremely helpful, I feel compelled to as one more "favor". Can someone point us (Jon, my friend and his daughters '99 Contour) to a place that will repair the infamous 1999 "dropping dash"? Jon would like to get this repaired and I suggested you folks would know the "lay of the land" best.
Thank you again!!!!
Bill

if you mean the dah recall - SOL- you have to go to a dealer-
IF at all possible dont go to willey - about ten min both ways on the freeway are other ford dealers- south is smith ford- good place- used to date the receptionist! (what a babe) north is ken garff ford- i dont have any experience with their service guys- but the parts guys are on it.

About an hour away is Quality Ford which I would highly recommend as well. They have treated me extremely well in the past.

I have had good luck with La Point Ford in Murray (basicly a suburb of Salt Lake), which is the only SVT dealer in the SLC area (IIRC). Their service department is great, when I had my Exploder...they took care of all the warranty BS and my Grandma just had her '99 Sable GS w/ only 4K ( ) on it serviced there last week and was very happy with them (for a senior citizen, that says something ). Some of the sales staff are fairly ignorant.....but other than that they're my choice for Ford stealerships

I think Butterfield is a SVT dealer as well. So is Quality Ford (the one I mentioned earlier)

Thanks again gents; it's sounding like Jon will have to take this to the dealer. Yes, he had it checked about 16 months ago for the recall. of course at that time there wasn't a problem with his dash.....now Ford Srvice (800#) say's "oh well, there isn't anything I can do"....very lame if you ask me.
I so much want to purchase a Ford Escape, as I have been living with a rental for the last 5k miles...that 3.0 Duratec kicks, and the rig is very well balanced. Normal front wheel drive with on demand 4 wheel drive. If Ford could only see to it to get here customer service skills in order....
