I am unsure about the pistons between the 2.5 and SVT, but I would have thought them to be different. I can research this and update everyone. Of course I thought the valve train was all together different. I own a '95 Zetec 2.0. w/5spd. I love that car!!!
I spoke with Jon over the phone earlier today, I had him surf this forum, he is very appreciative of everyone's effort. What has been a nightmare up to now is starting to show some options, all because of you folks.
I am confident Jon is still viewing our conversations, so maybe he will join in.
Do any of you have a phone number for Cleggs? Jon has an 801 listing (phone book maybe) but was unable to locate Cleggs.
Yes, all three repair shops sound MUCH better than the stealership. Amazing that I was able to get these references so quickly. I wouldn't have been able to do this in the Portland, Oregon area ;-) You guys are great.
Once again THANK YOU ALL!!!!
Bill

We may want to take you up on your offers!! Of course we would pay you for any parts we use.
Jon and I are still very puzzled by what caused this malfunction. From what everyone one has said, any one of these three shops will be able to give us a proper diagnose.
This engine problem came up just a few short weeks after the "sagging dash" manifested itself. Jon had the local dealer review the dash awhile back, due to the campaign notice he received. Of course the dash was fine at that time. Now the local dealer states the "statue of limitations" (timeframe) has expired. Ford has been less than receptive to resolving this issue. One thing after another it appears. Enough to make one leave Ford.
thanks again, Bill

anyway the SVT and Non SVT pistons are different. they will swap but only the complete set. the valves like I said before- I dunno. im not near a phone book but Cleggs is really easy to find- its on center street and Geneva in Orem

Hey...Swazo...you still got those heads? What kind of shape are they in and would be interested in selling them? Just curious.

I was actually asking for myself, but I wouldn't need them right away anyway.

OK guys, here is the apparently happy ending. This truely is a result of the individuals in the Southwest Forum who did not hesitate to "jump up to the plate" (I'm a Marlins fan ;-)) and provide sound advice, offers of assistance and resounding support. THANK YOU!!!!!
Jon's latest email:
Status:

Car should have been towed to Hundleyâ??s Garage. They had already located an engine and itâ??s on its way. They are going to replace the engine with a 12 month warranty for less than what Willeyâ??s was going to do the valve job. They did mention that the book quotes 17 hours to replace the engine which they thought was pretty high. The engine has been tested and certified. It has about 60k miles on it.

Thanks for all you have done. Getting turned on to Hundleyâ??s was the right thing. Express my thanks to all those that have contributed on CEG.

Jon Brems

Also, if I can ever be of assistance don't hesitate to contact me -- Bill (contour_r_us)
