What is the easiest way to remove a stuck stock HU? My POS HU won't budge at all. I tried the cut wire coat hanger trick that I picked up off the archives, and it was a no go. I am going to get DIN tools (I haven't figured out where yet...any suggestions?) before I resort to dash removal. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

I had trouble getting mine out too. I used the DIN tools and pulled as hard as I could; they popped out and I almost ended up in the back seat! I called Crutchfield (where I had purchased my new HU), and they said brute force wasn't the answer. Put the coathangers/DIN tools in, squeeze them a bit inwards, and gently wiggle the unit. I tried that and after about five minutes (which I spent being sure I was wasting my time) the right side of the HU suddenly released! From there it was easy to get the left side to release, and the HU slid right out. So that worked for me, but I have read other members saying they had to resort to disassembling the bottom of the dash to get the unit out. Hopefully yours won't be more stuck than mine was. Good luck.

this can be done fairly simply with 4 nails, make sure there about the diamater of the hole insert all 4, pull each vert. pair towards it respective door (towards the oustise of the car) and pull out

The difference between the stock HU and my new cheap HU (Aiwa X217 bought on sale from Bestbuy for $99) is amazing. I highly suggest it to anyone!! I don't know why I waited this long!!

When I removed my stock HU the din tools wouldn't even make it budge. I eventually figured out that the metal things that the tool is supposed to slide into were for some reason pushed so far to the side that the tools wouldn't work. I got pissed and ripped the face of the stock HU and took a pliers to it. It came right out.
