I had trouble getting mine out too. I used the DIN tools and pulled as hard as I could; they popped out and I almost ended up in the back seat! I called Crutchfield (where I had purchased my new HU), and they said brute force wasn't the answer. Put the coathangers/DIN tools in, squeeze them a bit inwards, and gently wiggle the unit. I tried that and after about five minutes (which I spent being sure I was wasting my time) the right side of the HU suddenly released! From there it was easy to get the left side to release, and the HU slid right out. So that worked for me, but I have read other members saying they had to resort to disassembling the bottom of the dash to get the unit out. Hopefully yours won't be more stuck than mine was.
