Well my baby has deicided to start bucking violently at WOT especially with less than half a tank. I read another post, "Never buy Ford again" with similar probelm said it was diagnosed to fuel pump. Is this a pretty common thing and if so how bad is a fuel pump change.

Very common.

Usual method is to enlarge the access hole under the rear seat instead of dropping tank.

If not under warranty, it's not too bad to replace it. Check the FAQ on how to do it. BTW at 94K miles, I'm on my 3rd fuel pump. You can get a replacement from BAT fairly cheap.

i found one on bat for $75. its the same price for return or returnless. its about a 10-15 minute fix. not too bad. just pop out the bottom of the back seat and there's the access hole. im about to do this repair on my tour so im w/you on this one.

wooohooo. Thanks guys, that is what i kinda figured. Is the pump from bat better than the stock one?...or is there an aftermarket performance pump that might be a better choice?

it all depends on what you're doing w/the car. me personally im ready to sell mine so im going the cheap way. BAT's fuel pump is only $75 for pump and filter. im sure you can find a performance one around somewhere by surfing but id stick w/the stock one. its a personal opinion. i dont know where to tell you to find an upgrade.

Fuel pump is very common. I had to have mine replaced under warranty 4 months after I bought the veh with 18k on the odo. I have 65k now and I think this one is going..
