The LS valvetrain may have slight avantages in reliability and high RPM, but unless you're planning on 8,000+ RPM with 10mm lift or higher camshafts, the direct bucket design offers nothing for the street engine swap. The inferior lash adjuster/follower combination did fine with cam gears, cams, and heads on David Z's old motor to the tune of near 260+ at the wheels IIRC. That should be the LS'ers minimum goal if something is to be proven.
