A complete waste of time & money IMO... There is NO real benefit to running the LS heads regardless of what some people "claim unfoundedly"

Again why even reply. Its guys like that, that allow bench racers like yourself to sit back and critize because of how 'cheap' your able to build a 3L.

I offer PnP Heads for all durtec's details at PnPheads.com or jesse@pnpheads.com for details.

Hmmm...

Bone stock 01 Taurus 3L engine with SVT cams did what...
Oh yeah... 240-245HP and 205-210TQ at the crank.

How much less did it cost???
How much easier to install???

There's a no brainer IMO...

I was serious when I said I anxiously await a dyno from a straight LS 3L swap. I'd like someone to show me what all this time & money did for them??? Being unique is very cool, but dropping loads of cash and time for no appreciable gains verses other options is definitely not!

My biggest kick on this is some folks (many not here anymore) stating the LS swap will produce so much more power and the valvetrain is so superior because our standard Duratec valvetrain can't take high rpm.
Funny how the ~8000rpm M3 and ~9000rpm S2000 use the same valvetrain design as our standard Duratec. Hmmm...

Don't worry. When I build my "el-cheapo" 3L project I'll be sure to dyno it just for you.

Then you can criticize me for something or another...

I really hope it makes the naynayers eat crow myself... I feel I've done okay with my 2.5L so far

Reading beyondloadeds post about his setup, got me thinking weren't there some LS 3.0 turbos in the works, and what the hell ever happened to them. I guess will have to wait and see

The LS valvetrain may have slight avantages in reliability and high RPM, but unless you're planning on 8,000+ RPM with 10mm lift or higher camshafts, the direct bucket design offers nothing for the street engine swap. The inferior lash adjuster/follower combination did fine with cam gears, cams, and heads on David Z's old motor to the tune of near 260+ at the wheels IIRC. That should be the LS'ers minimum goal if something is to be proven.

So it is written....So let it be done. (think:deep voice and thunderous music)

What's up Brad? Have you still got Silvie or not? Are you going to mod the 'maro or the contour?

It's good to have you posting more again.

Silvie finally went away back in April (I think it was April???). She lives down in NC now, not really sure how she's doing at the moment. The kid who has her now posts every once in a while. I don't remember what his screen name is though...

The T.A. is getting a few mods here and there. Got a cam swap to get rid of the peanut lift cam (stock lift was only .385!!!). She now runs a .465 lift, 280 duration cam to let the stock unported heads flow a bit. Home made CAI pipe to optimised TB and SLP P&P siamesed runners. Went from barely able to squeak the tires (AT and 2.77 gears) to smoking them through first and a squawk into second. Not bad for a red headed step child of an engine (305).

All told, less than 3 grand in it and it would run mid to low 14's and gets right at 20 MPG with my custom PROM tuning. Tuning this thing is a cake walk and costs less than $220 for everything needed to burn the new chips. I wish I would have had that for Silvie...

A Contour project may be on the horizon though. The T.A. is only temporary and will go away once the '05 Mustang GT comes out. I won't be the first on the block with a new GT, but I will have one by late next year if it's everything the show car promises. At that time, I would need to get a winter beater to be able to store the pony over winters. Enter said Contour here. As the sig says, looking for any year tour with a popped V6 as a starting point, but early SE would be ideal. Not looking to go over a grand for the car itself... if you know of any...

Bnoon, I think Hoosiercontour was looking to get rid of his tour with a dead mtx 75 a while back. You might want to pm him.
